In 1571, Georg Freiherr von Khevenhüller acquires the castle, expands it, adds an armoury and has 14 gates built. A castle walkway secured in this way is unique in castle construction. The castle is still owned by the Khevenhüller family to this day and is one of the most important architectural sights in Austria. Castle restaurant. Castle museum with armoury. Passenger lift.

Animalpark Rosegg

Enjoy an extraordinary day with your whole family in the colourful world of the animalpark! Explore the large animal family of Rosegg: American bison, white wolves, cheeky mountain monkeys, ibex, lynx, rare deer species, including the little-known white red deer and many more! The play area and petting zoo is an absolute hit for children: ponies, dwarf donkeys, dwarf goats, rabbits and other small animals and their young can be pet and fed here.

Heidi Alm Falkert

The Heidi-Alm Falkert is located at 1,850 metres above sea level in the heart of the Carinthian Nockberge mountains. More than 100 characters from the film “Heidi, your world is the mountains” await visitors of all ages on 28,000 m2 in a rustic mountain landscape in the middle of a pine forest. Alm-Öhi’s hut is a tiny little “museum” and the goats running around freely are reminiscent of Heidi’s experiences. The large, fantastic Heidi slide is a real hit with the kids. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Heidi Alm, a marvellous fishing pond was created and every child can fish to their heart’s content here. Fishing rods can be borrowed from the ticket office and you pay for the fish you catch.

Magdalensberg archaeological park

A former settlement of around 2.5 km² from the late Celtic-early Roman period forms the basis for one of the largest archaeological excavation sites in Austria. You will gain an insight into life and everyday life in times gone by.

Monte Lussari cable car near Tarvis, Italy

The modern cable car to the Luschariberg offers even inexperienced hikers the opportunity to get to know the beautiful landscape of the Julian Alps and the pilgrimage church at 1752 metres.

Well-marked hiking trails lead into the still largely unspoilt mountain world, but we recommend good mountain boots and weatherproof clothing. The distant view over the peaks in Italy, Austria and Slovenia conveys the borderless idea of three cultures that could not be more different.
